ORPHAN GRAIN TRAIN

"I WILL NOT LEAVE YOU AS ORPHANS, I WILL COME TO YOU" John 14:18

AUCTION: Thanks to all of you and most importantly to our good Lord for direction, the 7th Annual Live and Silent Auction was another success. We really appreciate those of you who came to the Sheraton on Sunday the 16th of October to share  in the activities. Also a big thank  you to those who donated itens and those who could not attend and made a financial contribution. The auctioneer was at his best and the crowd responded likewise, many trying to outbid each other. The final numbers are not in yet, as I write this article, but we are estimating something in the neighborhood of $12,000. With the exception of two framed prints,

which were on consignments, all of the items were taken.

The food at the Auction was well received; mashed potatoes in martini glasses with many toppings continue to be very popular. All of the accompaniments were well received as were the beverages. Mark your calendar for next year - about the same time - watch for the official date.

BLANKETS: We have just received a request for blankets to help those who were flooded out in the Owego, New York area. Pastor Aaron Schian of Zion Lutheran Church asked that we be of assistance to them in gathering blankets for those families who were caught in the flood and lost their home or had it damaged by flood waters. The local school was closed and the children are being bussed to another area. Zion has volunteered to be in charge of blankets and quilts and so we will be suppling them as soon as we have enough blankets and quilts IN GOOD CONDITION for them. Bring your items to Christ Memorial Lutheran Church and place them in the area in the school wing marked for Orphan Grain Train.

SORTING AND PACKING: Our warehouse is now in full operation after the summer slow down. Sorting and packing of the clothing is one of the most important activities. Without volunteers to do that we cannot help those in need. Come to the warehouse any Wednesday or Friday morning from 9 to 12 and join in the fun! We can use any and most all ages who can do packing and sorting. The pay is great and the rewards are many - coffee and donuts - and satisfaction of helping others. As soon as enough boxes are packed shipments can be made to Haiti, Ohio and other areas. Any questions, call the church and ask for Cliff Kraft or Susan Bell, 610-644-4508.

To God alone be the glory..
